McGregor sits about twenty miles west of Waco where McLennan County runs toward Coryell, a rail town that grew up along the Santa Fe line and kept its historic downtown. It's best known now as the home of SpaceX's rocket development and test facility — 300-odd acres on ground with its own industrial history, established in 1942 as the Bluebonnet Ordnance Plant and later leased by Beal Aerospace before SpaceX took it over in 2003.
